In 2007, the Colosso marked Hysek’s first foray into the world of super complications. It was indeed a colossal project; a divisive, outrageous piece. The Colosso very definitely made its mark in its day, and also became something of an icon for Hysek – not because it was representative of our usual style or complications, but because it embodied our penchant for upsetting the applecart of traditional watchmaking from time to time.
The Colossal is carrying on precisely where we left off ten years ago, and aiming still higher. The piece has over one thousand components, and is currently being assembled and tested. Today, it is no longer a mere project or technical concept, it has become a reality that collectors and watch aficionados will be discovering in a month.
