Omega has just announced just announced the new Omega Speedmaster Moonphase with new Omega Caliber 9904 at Baselworld 2016. The watch boasts a beautiful sun-brushed blue dial, ceramic bezel with liquidmetal inlay, and steel case.
The new 368-part Caliber 9904 is really top notch in providing the latest technology, and it is nicely finished as well. Practically speaking, it provides chronograph, calendar and moonphase functionality, it is also certified METAS. METAS, if you are wondering, is a certification standard Omega adopted in 2014 whereby Omega takes a COSC-certified chronometer caliber and then passes more tests which replicate real-life wearing conditions and demonstrate resistance to water and magnetic fields.
The stunning sun-brushed blue dial is visually balanced with its moonphase display at 6 o’clock and twin two-handed subdials to create a beautifully symmetrical look.
The two rhodium-plated subdials – decorated with circles – display chronograph hours/minutes at 3 o’clock and continuous seconds/date at 9 o’clock.
The new Speedmaster Moonphase is certified as a Master Chronometer, Omega’s highest quality standard. In order to earn the Master Chronometer distinction, the finished watches – not just the movement – are tested for their precision during and after exposure to magnetic fields greater than 15,000 Gauss, for autonomy and for water resistance.
